Right as my body started to dissolve, a voice said my name-“Kat!"

Shocked back into my bed- heart thumping. But why? Is there only one moment- only room for one syllable? Did my ear brush past your mouth on it’s way out?

Years ago, walking home with Maggie along the roots and nighttime shadows on school street, there was a “Hi” from nowhere. Hearts pounding, we ran to her house through the darkness- and sitting on her kitchen floor, lights off, we laughed. Tears streaming down our faces, we laughed.

And would I like to say "hi" to anyone?
When your sleeping ear passes by my lips, what should I say..
