About
Ryn LaRanger(they/them) is a Brooklyn-based artist whose watercolor paintings explore the body as a site of emotional instability, vulnerability, and surreal transformation. A graduate of Pratt Institute (2008), their work combines direct observation with dreamlike distortion, using self-portraiture as a means of investigating internal space.
In parallel with their studio practice, LaRanger has worked extensively in the jewelry industry through custom design and retail management. While they exhibit periodically throughout New York, they have intentionally maintained artmaking as a personal and exploratory practice outside of commercial obligation.
Raised in Carmel, New York, LaRanger considers Woods Hole, Massachusetts their spirit's home. They live and work in Brooklyn with their son and two cats.
